As a result of the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and the subsequent UK Regulations anyone selling or letting a domestic or commercial property must now have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). EPC's can only be generated by attending an energy assessor training course and achieving a fully qualified Domestic Energy Assessors (DEA's) and Non-Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEA's) accreditation
There is a significant need for trained Energy Assessors to carry out energy assessments and produce EPC’s following the Government’s implementation of the Directive.
Energy Performance Certificates
The EPC is intended to inform potential buyers or tenants about the energy performance of a building and can influence the decision whether or not to buy or occupy a particular property. An EPC, supplied by an approved Energy Assessor, provides an energy rating for a building based on a survey of the performance potential of, amongst other things, the building fabric, materials of construction and services (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting).
A building is rated from A to G (with A being the most efficient and G the least) and the Energy Performance Certificate comes to a client in an easy-to-understand graph format similar to that found on a range of domestic appliances, such as fridges and washing machines.
